When You Have a Creative Block..
Hi, I'm @sophiasiempre, the owner of Siempre Golden! In my next few posts, I'll discuss the steps of what it took to start and grow Siempre. But for this post, I kind of wanted to talk about my present state of how I'm feeling.
When it's the beginning stages of starting a company, you have a lot of excitement. You feel this thirst and hustle to survive.. literally. Your company requires a certain amount of revenue to stay afloat and exist. However, once you get past that stage of "survival mode", I think it's normal for one to become.. complacent, lazy, and get a creative block.
I think I entered that state this past June.. and have been feeling that way to this day and it's now October lol.. so for five months pretty much. Don't get me wrong, I am very grateful to be able to do what I've always wanted to do since college... but most days I would wake up and feel no motivation or drive to do anything. (This is what happens when you are an entrepreneur and work alone. There's no one to bounce ideas off of or someone to vibe with. Even though I work with freelancers and interns, and talk to my fam on social media platforms, it's not the same as having employees that you see every day.)
Anyway, to no longer feeling this way! To feel creative, you need to experience new things. Whether it's watching a new movie, going to new places, traveling, working in a different environment, meeting new people, you need to constantly stimulate your mind and gain NEW PERSPECTIVES. And I guess what happened to me was, I was just doing the same thing, for years and it eventually caught up to me. I feel like my creative juices are flowing again soooo don't you worry, another collection is coming out soon!
I'd like to give a shout out to my mom who always says Health should be your first priority. No matter how wealthy or successful you are, if you don't have good health, nothing else matters. (I'd like to point out Steve Jobs is a perfect example for that unfortunately. What a genius man that changed technology and telecommunications.) What is really re-inspiring me to create is being pro-active about my health, what I've been eating, doing Pilates, Boxing, and even caring about who I spend my time with. Surround yourself with motivated and driven people! That energy rubs off on you! When you feel good about yourself, you definitely feel more productive and want to put in work / get it done. x
